All Direction Home’s housing and development consultants have at least 20 years’ experience in providing low cost home ownership and intermediate housing and very closely related fields such as housing for open market sale or land identification and development.
Steve Coleman has worked in affordable housing for over 25 years, and has held executive director positions with two of the country’s largest housing associations and been the leading spokesperson for intermediate housing products.
Steve was previously the Director of Notting Hill Home Ownership, one of the national market leaders in the field.
Under Steve’s leadership NHHO developed the largest shared ownership programme in the UK, introduced private finance into the field, and ran an award-winning innovation programme focused on mixed and flexible tenure. During this period Steve was the Chair of the National Housing Federation group on intermediate tenure.
For the last seven years Steve was the Development and Sales Director for Genesis Housing Group. During this time he led the group through a period of significant growth, increasing the programme twelve-fold from 200 to 2,500 homes per year.
Keith Colley is a chartered surveyor with 35 years’ experience of affordable housing developments, of which over 20 have been in the field of affordable home ownership. For 13 years from 1987 Keith was the Director of Metropolitan Home Ownership, an association which he built up from a small base of 200 homes to a position where it is now one of the national market leaders in the field.
For the last 10 years Keith has worked on a freelance basis for a total of 20 clients, mainly housing associations. This has involved working on the whole range of intermediate housing from strategic business planning and interim management of the whole function to the development , marketing and management of individual schemes.
Keith has both a wide knowledge of the intermediate housing market and a detailed knowledge of how this sector works in practice.
Trevor is a solicitor and a legal expert and leader in the field of affordable housing development with over 30 years’ experience. Trevor was involved almost at inception with shared ownership and developed the first recognised legal procedures for Do-it-Yourself-Shared-Ownership.
He was formerly Managing Partner and Head of both the Banking and Low Cost Home Ownership teams at his former law firm Prince Evans and whilst there acted on behalf of a number of lenders and Housing Association borrowers and was one of the first to act for a major clearing bank in loans to a Housing Association secured on a shared ownership portfolio.
Trevor had throughout his career specialised in forms of intermediate tenure and was jointly responsible for the first Housing Corporation models for flexible tenure shared ownership leases as well as acting for a number of private participants in launching and finding funding for shared equity and equity participation products across the private and public spectrum.
For the past 6 years Trevor had been involved in his own firm BarnesMorley before leaving to become a consultant with Direction LLP and member of Direction Home.
